Reg Livermore in "Firing Squad" at Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne 1983
I was fortunate to be able to photograph his ten Melbourne shows from the front row to create a very large collage of all of Reg’s many onstage personas. This is one of those images. Best of all I got to spend time backstage talking to the man behind the many masks every night. He’d wait until everyone had left the queue at backstage door, and sometimes this took a couple of hours. He’d say, “What more do they want? I’ve already given them everything I’ve got.” In recent years Reg played the Wizard in Melbourne & Sydney’s production of Wicked (2014). Now living in Bowral with his partner, he gardens, cooks, paints and still performs from time to time; still “alive and kicking”, in his own words.
